Mississauga
Serving Mississauga homeowners: yes, we come
We get calls from Mississauga regularly, so here is the straight answer: yes, we come, and the quote is still free and written. Patio repair and interlock are what we are asked for most, with driveways and new sod behind them. Big-city rules come with the territory. Any private tree 15 centimetres across needs a permit before it comes out, even a dead one. Driveway width is capped by your lot's frontage, and a wider curb cut is a separate request to the city. Two conservation authorities split the creeks, Credit Valley Conservation on the Credit River side and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority on the Etobicoke Creek side. We know all of it before we quote, so you do not have to.
The yards run from mature lakeside streets in Port Credit, Mineola and Lorne Park, through the big trees of Clarkson by Rattray Marsh, to the Credit River side in Streetsville, Erin Mills and Meadowvale and the compact lots of Cooksville and the centre. You deal with the same Hamilton crew from the first call to the final sweep, materials are billed at what they cost us with no markup, every job carries a 1-year craftsmanship warranty and we are fully insured. Call (905) 906-0671 or send the form, and we will quote around Mississauga's by-laws rather than against them.
What we build in Mississauga
Our Mississauga services, each with a free written quote that respects the by-laws. Each service has its own page with the detail. Our guides on interlocking patio installation in Mississauga, repair or rebuild and patio restoration in Mississauga go deeper on the work we are asked for most.
- Interlock patios: Backyard patios on a deep compacted base, sized for a Cooksville lot or a Lorne Park one, with the roots of protected trees left alone.
- Interlock driveways: Driveways built for cars and winters on a deeper base than a patio, sized to the width your frontage allows and the curb cut you have.
- Walkways and front entrances: Front walks in interlock, slabs or flagstone, sloped away from the house, with the soft landscaped minimum in the front yard kept.
- Retaining walls: Walls for the slope lots above the old Lake Iroquois shoreline and along the Credit River valley, with drainage behind them.
- Concrete: Walkways, patios and steps in broom, stamped or exposed aggregate, poured within Mississauga's front yard landscaping rules.
- Concrete driveways: A plain broom finish driveway with wire mesh and a proper apron, within the width the zoning by-law allows for your lot.
- Concrete steps and porches: Front steps and porches on older homes replaced, plus shed and hot tub pads.
- Patio restoration: The Mississauga job we do most: sunken or weedy interlock lifted, re-levelled, washed and re-sanded without replacing the stones.
- Grading: Yards regraded so water leaves the lot instead of sitting on the clay till or running toward the foundation.
- Drainage: French drains, swales and downspout extensions for yards that stay wet, planned so the water does not become the neighbour's problem.
- Sod and lawns: Old turf stripped, real topsoil added over the clay, bluegrass sod laid tight.
- Gardens and planting: Beds planned for the shade of protected trees in Mineola and Clarkson, with every plant billed at cost.
- Garden bed cleanup, mulch and edging: Beds cleared, the good plants kept, edged deep and mulched, with the clippings hauled away.
- Decks and fences: Decks and privacy fences built to Mississauga's fence by-law, two metres at the back and lower at the front.
- Fences and gates: Privacy fences, horizontal cedar and square-hung gates, with a failed run rebuilt as a section rather than patched.
- Hardscaping: Steps, borders, fire pit areas and outdoor rooms that tie a city backyard together.

Local knowledge
Building in Mississauga: what to know before you start
The ground. Mississauga sits on the Halton-Peel till plain, glacial till over shale bedrock at a shallow to moderate depth. In places a glacial lake, the Peel ponding, eroded the till and filled the gaps with sand, silt and clay, and the shoreline of the older glacial Lake Iroquois runs roughly along Dundas Street, with a sandier band below it toward the lake. South of Dundas the ground tends to be lighter; north of it the clay till rules. Either way a patio or driveway needs a deep compacted gravel base and a fall away from the house, and a lawn needs real topsoil, not a skim over the till.
Trees. Private Tree Protection By-law 0021-2022 requires a permit to injure or remove any private tree 15 centimetres or more in diameter, dead or dying trees included. That covers most of the trees on a Mineola, Lorne Park or Clarkson lot, so the patio goes around the roots, not through them, and the beds under a big tree are planned for shade. Ask before a tree comes out, and we plan around the ones that stay.
Driveways. Widening a driveway does not need a building permit, but the zoning by-law caps the width by your lot’s frontage and sets a minimum soft landscaped area in the front yard, so a driveway cannot swallow the lawn. A wider curb cut at the street is a separate access modification request to the city. We size the driveway to what your frontage allows and handle the curb cut request if you want one.
Fences. Mississauga’s fence by-law allows a rear or side yard fence up to 2 metres. A front yard fence is limited to 1 metre, or 1.5 metres if it is open construction, meaning at least a third of it is see-through. A fence does not usually need a permit. We build to the by-law and talk to you about the shared line with your neighbour first.
Two conservation authorities. Credit Valley Conservation regulates the Credit River and the creeks near it, which takes in Streetsville, Erin Mills, Meadowvale and the river valley through Port Credit. The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority regulates Etobicoke Creek on the east side. A lot near either can be inside a regulated area, and a wall or a change of grade there needs the authority’s permission first. We check the right map before we quote.
Walls and locates. The Ontario Building Code makes a retaining wall over a metre of exposed height next to public property, a building entrance or private property the public uses a designated structure: permit and engineer’s design required. Every dig waits for the free Ontario One Call locate, which we arrange.
The season. Mississauga shares our growing season: plant hardiness zone 6b, the last spring frost around late April and the first fall frost around late October. Sod and planting from spring to fall, interlock, concrete and carpentry through the summer, nothing dug once the ground is frozen. Start dates are booked in the order quotes are accepted, and we group Mississauga work so the crew is there for the whole job.

FAQs
Mississauga landscaping questions
Yes. We get Mississauga inquiries regularly and we take the work: Port Credit, Mineola, Lorne Park, Clarkson, Streetsville, Erin Mills, Meadowvale, Cooksville and the centre. We are a Hamilton crew, and we group Mississauga jobs so the crew is on site for the whole job. Call (905) 906-0671 with the street and we will confirm the drive.
Usually, yes. A sunken or weedy patio is a base and joint problem, not a paver problem. We lift the sunken area, correct and compact the base, reset the pavers flush, then pressure wash and fill the joints with polymeric sand. The stones are reused. Our guide on repair or rebuild in Mississauga explains when each makes sense.
Usually little needs matching, because a repair reuses the stones already there once they are lifted and cleaned. Where a few are cracked, we source the closest match we can find, and we tell you before the work starts if an exact match is no longer made. Read about patio restoration in Mississauga.
No. The quote is one price in writing, and the Mississauga drive is not a line on it. Distance affects scheduling more than price: we book Mississauga work in blocks so the crew is there start to finish, and we tell you the dates when we quote.
Usually within the hour. Many Mississauga jobs can be quoted over the phone or from photos by text or email, and we come out when the lot needs a look. The written quote comes quickly after, and start dates go in the order quotes are accepted.
Yes. Every job carries a 1-year craftsmanship warranty, and the distance from Hamilton makes no difference to it. If a repair we made settles within the year because of our workmanship, we come back to fix it, and we are fully insured on every site.
In stages tied to the work: a first payment when the agreement is signed, then payments as each stage is finished, and the last one on completion. Because we book Mississauga work in blocks, the stages usually follow each other closely, and every amount is in the agreement before we start.
Up to 2 metres in the rear and side yards. At the front, 1 metre, or 1.5 metres if the fence is open construction with at least a third of it see-through. A fence does not usually need a permit. We build to the by-law. See fences and gates.
Yes. Mississauga's Fence By-law says that where your back yard is next to a neighbour's front yard, a fence within 4.5 metres of their driveway must be open construction, meaning at least a third of it is see-through. A fence that does not fit the by-law needs an exemption, and the City notifies the neighbours who share the boundary.
That is for you and your neighbour to settle. The City of Mississauga does not get involved in division fence disputes, but it publishes a step-by-step division fence procedure with sample notice letters, and the Line Fences Act applies. Letting your neighbour know before we build saves trouble later.
It depends on your lot's frontage. The zoning by-law caps driveway width by frontage and keeps a minimum soft landscaped area in the front yard, and a wider curb cut is a separate access modification request to the city. No building permit is needed to widen. We size it to the rule when we quote. See interlock driveways.
No. Mississauga's Public Tree Protection By-law says a public tree cannot be injured, removed or pruned without a permit, so City trees are the City's to prune. On your own lot, injuring or removing a tree 15 centimetres or more across needs a permit too, and the City has 30 business days to review a complete application.
It can. Credit Valley Conservation regulates the Credit River and the creeks near it, so a retaining wall, a patio near the slope or a change of grade on a valley lot may need its permission first. On the east side the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority covers Etobicoke Creek. We check the right map when we quote.
Check the new map. CVC's board approved updated regulation mapping on February 20, 2026, and its online viewer shows the new lines; inside a regulated area, a deck, a shed, site grading or major landscaping with fill can need its permit. The viewer does not show every regulated area, so CVC confirms anything close to the line.
Yes if it is 15 centimetres or more in diameter, under Private Tree Protection By-law 0021-2022, and that includes dead or dying trees. We plan patios, walkways and beds around protected trees rather than through their roots, and we tell you the options at the quote.
Not for most landscaping. Mississauga lists landscaping work, concrete pads, retaining walls under 1 metre, fences and decks under 600 millimetres high among projects that need no building permit, while a deck over 0.61 metres high or a covered porch does. Zoning rules still apply either way, and we check them at the quote.
