Problems
Start with the symptom, not the service
Most people do not call looking for patio restoration or grading. They call because something in the yard is wrong and getting worse. These pages are written that way: what you are seeing, why it happens in Hamilton yards, what you can check yourself this weekend, and what a lasting fix looks like.
Every one ends the same way: a free written quote if you want one, materials billed at what they cost us, and a 1-year craftsmanship warranty.
Our Work
Before and after
Problems we fix
Start with what you are seeing in the yard. Each problem below has its own page: what causes it in yards around Hamilton, what you can check yourself this weekend, and what a lasting fix includes.
- Sinking or uneven interlock patio: Low spots, rocking pavers, a puddle by the door. A base problem, fixed by lifting, rebuilding the base and relaying the same pavers.
- Rutted or uneven interlock driveway: Ruts under the tires, a heave at the garage, a sunken apron at the street. A base built for feet, not cars, and how we re-level it.
- Weeds and ants in the pavers: Weeds and ant hills in the joints mean the sand is gone. A deep wash and polymeric sand close them.
- Water pooling in the yard: A soggy lawn or a puddle that lasts for days is a grading or soil problem. The causes and the fixes, from regrading to a drain.
- Water draining toward the house: A yard that slopes toward the foundation sends every storm at the basement. How we fix the grade.
- Runoff from the neighbour's yard: When a neighbour's regrading, shed or pool sends water onto your lot: what the rules say and the fix.
- Ice on the walkway every winter: The same patch of ice every winter means water sits there in the fall. The causes and the fixes.
- Leaning or cracking retaining wall: A leaning wall is being pushed by water trapped behind it. Why walls fail in clay, and the fixes.
- Sloped backyard you cannot use: A sloped backyard becomes a usable one with a low wall, a terrace and a few steps. How we plan it.
- Cracked or crumbling concrete steps: Salt and freeze and thaw eat concrete steps from the surface down. When to parge and when to replace.
- Cracked or sunken concrete walkway: A concrete walk cracks and sinks when it was poured on soil with no base or mesh. How we rebuild it.
- Patchy or dead lawn: Thin topsoil over clay, shade, grubs or compaction: why Hamilton lawns fail and when sod beats seed.
- Bumpy or uneven lawn: Dips, ridges and low spots from settled trenches, frost and clay. Why a lawn goes lumpy, and how we level it.
- Lawn dug up by skunks or raccoons: Animals dig where the grubs are. What the torn turf is telling you, how to stop it and how we fix it.
- New build lawn failing: Builder's sod on compacted subgrade with a skim of topsoil rarely lasts. Why, and how we rebuild it.
- Clay soil where nothing grows: Much of Hamilton sits on clay that bakes hard in July and heaves in January. How real topsoil beats it.
- Muddy side yard: Shade, foot traffic and downspouts make a side yard that never dries. Path, rock or sod: what works.
- Tree roots lifting the walkway: A mature tree lifts slabs, cracks concrete and ridges the lawn. What can be cut, and how we rebuild.
- Overgrown garden beds: When weeding stops working, the bed needs a reset: old fabric and weeds out, fresh mulch, in one visit.
- Overgrown shrubs and hedges: Shrubs over the windows, a hedge nobody can reach, a stump that sprouts. Trim, remove or replace it.
- Weeds in river rock: River rock over torn fabric becomes a weed bed. How we lift it, lay fresh fabric and reuse the stone.
- Faded, stained or mossy patio: A grey, mossy, stained patio is usually sound underneath. A wash, new sand and sealer bring it back.
- Pool patio sinking or shifting: The ground around a pool was dug and refilled, and refilled ground settles. Why, and how we fix it.
- Leaning fence or rotted posts: A leaning fence with good boards needs new posts, not a new fence. How we replace the rotted posts.
- No privacy in the backyard: Overlooked by the neighbours? Fence height limits, deck screens and trees above the fence, together.

FAQs
Repair questions
Often, yes. A photo and a short description narrow most repairs down, and a lot of the time we can quote from them by phone, text or email; when the cause is under the surface, we come out and look first. The written quote is free.
Yes. Most of the repairs we do are on work built by others. We find the cause, fix it properly and back our work with a 1-year craftsmanship warranty.
It depends on what is underneath. If the pavers or blocks are sound, a repair usually costs less and we reuse what is there. If the base was never built, a rebuild lasts longer. We give you the honest option in writing.
If it is our work and it fails within a year because of how we built it, we come back and make it right under the warranty. Fixing the cause, not just the symptom, is how we keep that promise cheap to make.
